Welcome to Potters Cove Studio

Make art, meet friends and feel welcome every visit.

Potters Cove is a working pottery and decorative arts studio just off Rt 441 in Lake Worth. Beginners come to learn the basics of clay or glass while experienced makers sharpen their skills alongside other artists. The space is fully equipped for every discipline we teach, from wheel throwing to glass fusion. The studio runs classes for both kids and adults throughout the year.

About Our Classes

There's a reason hands-on art classes have outlasted every wave of digital distraction: working with clay or glass asks you to slow down and let your hands lead. The focus and patience help. And there's a particular kind of confidence that comes from making something real with your own hands. Group classes also give you what a home studio can't, which is shared progress alongside instructors who can guide you safely through equipment like kilns or wheels.

What We Offer

We run a mix of formats so people can find one that fits their lifestyle. One-and-done classes work well for first-timers or busy schedules, monthly programs suit steady learners, and intensives let serious makers go deeper into specialties like wheel throwing, glass fusion or enamel art. Members get personal shelf space, daily access to the wheels, kiln firing as part of their plan, plus Open Studio hours to keep momentum between classes. We also run After School programs for kids and focused workshops on specific skills, along with private parties or events for groups.

Getting Started

If you're new, the easiest place to start is a one-and-done class in hand building or wheel throwing. You'll learn the basics in a single guided session, and we'll handle trimming, firing or glazing so you can come back later to pick up the finished piece. From there, adults can move into ongoing weekly classes or apply for a membership. If you're not sure which direction fits your skill level, give us a call and we'll help you figure it out.

Classes and Programs

Hand building and wheel throwing classes start with the basics: coils, slabs and wheel centering. They're open to new makers as well as returning students. Glass fusion classes work with bright, layered color to make trays, ornaments or suncatchers, while enamel art classes turn copper into pendants or pins with a glowing finish. Stained glass introduces safe cutting and foiling techniques. Paint nights are a relaxed option for groups of friends. Beyond classes, we host walk-in activities during studio hours, Open Studio time for ongoing practice and After School programs for kids. We also run private parties for birthdays or milestones, plus special events with seasonal themes and guest artists. Memberships, which require a quick call before approval, give you regular access to shelves, wheels, glazes or kiln firing.

Memberships

A membership at Potters Cove gives you ongoing access to the studio between scheduled classes, which is the natural next step for anyone who wants to keep working at their own pace. You'll get personal shelf space for works in progress, regular use of the wheels, kiln firing on your pieces, priority for kiln scheduling, plus Open Studio time every week. Since wheels and kilns need to be handled with care, we have a quick safety check with new members before approving access, which is why memberships aren't sold online. Some people take a class first to get comfortable in the studio, while others come in already knowing what they want to work on. When you're ready, give us a call at 561-557-5565. We'll talk through pricing, schedule and goals, then take it from there.
