About Potters Cove Studio Lake Worth

About Us
Potters Cove is a working pottery and decorative arts studio in Lake Worth, located on the north end of Mission Lakes Plaza just off Route 441. Gayle Newman opened the studio in the spring of 2021 with the idea of building a space that felt like a real artist's working environment rather than a hobby room. The focus is on clay, glass fusion and enamel art, with painting, stained glass and other decorative crafts running on the schedule throughout the year.
Gayle came to ceramics the long way around. She earned her BFA at the University of Miami and went on to graduate work at the University of Texas and CW Post, while spending the working part of her career as a graphic designer. She kept her hands in pottery and painting all the while, and after moving to Florida in 2016 she added glass fusion and enameling to the mix. The studio is the place where all of that has come together. A few other working artists teach regular classes alongside her, and the lineup of instructors shifts now and then as different makers come through.

The studio runs classes and workshops for beginners and intermediate students, with experienced makers welcome through Open Studio. Most weekday mornings tend to be quieter, with adult classes and members at the wheels. Afternoons mix in younger artists working on their own projects. The equipment is professional-grade and the space is kept clean and orderly. The people teaching are people who'd want to spend time here themselves. We hope you'll come by and see what you can make!
